Did you know…Last year, The Gemma Moran United Way/Labor Food Center distributed more than 1.5 million pounds of food through more than 80 free food sites which in turn helped provide meals and snacks, at no cost, to those in need throughout New London County.

Did you know…With one gift to United Way you are supporting 29 local agencies that help people every day in New London County? You are helping fire victims get disaster services from American Red Cross, providing battered women and children a safe place to sleep through the Women’s Center of Southeastern Connecticut and helping people with disabilities gain independence in our community through the ARC of New London County.

Did you know…United Community & Family Services (UCFS) Smiles on the Move Program serves 10 towns in the region and provided 1476 dental appointments to area youth in the last year?

POST-CAMPAIGN

Do you know someone who needs help? Simply dial 2-1-1 for health and human services in the State of Connecticut. This free service is a United Way partner program. Find a child care provider or a cancer support group, home heating assistance or smoking cessation programs. Professional caseworkers are on call 24 hours a day, every day of the year to answer all of your questions.
Day of Caring is a free service of United Way of SECT which matches groups and individuals with agencies to work on one-time volunteer projects. This important program offers our not-for-profit partners a source of free labor, while you can make a hands-on difference in our community. Raising dollars is only one segment of what United Way does in the community. Once the campaign is completed, the dollars need to be distributed to agencies and their programs. This is done through our fund distribution process, and we are always looking for volunteers to help. Volunteers go on agency site visits, meet with agency staff, review budgets and make decisions on how best to invest your contribution.
