What Matters in Our Community
Chances are, the same things that matter to you, matter to all of us. United Way of Southeastern Connecticut is committed to bringing organizations together to help find solutions to our community's most pressing problems. And when you find solutions in a community, it shows!
So, what does United Way do? Your gift to United Way is invested in four focus areas to get results that matter. Our four priorities are: Community Wellness, Thriving Children, Basic Needs and Training and Education for Jobs. Research indicates that certain areas require particular attention in our community and therefore, all of United Way's efforts address at least one of these priorities or focus areas.

It could be that we provide resources to a partner program that impacts one of the priorities. Or it may be that United Way collaborates in a community partnership that is affecting change, such as Project Warm-Up or the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center.
It's not about simply putting a bandage on a problem. United Way works to find the root cause of the problem and seek out other concerned organizations and people to help solve it.
But our efforts don't end there! United Way partner programs produce measurable results to show the difference they make and the lives they improve. When you add all that up together, it becomes large-scale community impact. And that translates into positive, sustainable change...because a strong community is a good place to come home to--and that's what matters.
