Ben and Jerry’s at Mohegan Sun’s Fundraiser. $1.00 from every waffle cone purchased on March 23, 2010, from noon to midnight was donated to the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center. They raised $870, more than a $100 increase from last year.

The New London Community Development Block Grant again made a preliminary award of $15,000 to the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center Food Center to purchase nutritious food for those in need. Final contracts will be executed on July 1, 2010.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded the Food Center $20,000 for emergency food for those in need.
